Let's talk about the girl who got canceled for a bad Yelp review of a local bakery
Let's talk about the girl who got canceled for a bad Yelp review of a local bakery. This happened back in March in Austin. A woman named Jen left a 2-star review for a popular bakery after they messed up her birthday cake order twice. She was polite in the review, just said the frosting was wrong and she was disappointed. But the owner went nuclear, posted Jen's full name and screenshot of the review on Instagram, and called her a Karen. Within 24 hours, Jen's work got bombarded with angry calls, her personal Facebook got flooded, and she ended up losing her job as a receptionist. The bakery crowd funded over $10k and refused to apologize. But here is the thing - the review was completely factual and not mean at all. Jen never cursed or exaggerated. So does being honest about a bad service experience make you fair game for public destruction? Or did she deserve the heat because she could have just called the bakery instead of posting publicly? I cannot decide. Has anyone else seen a case where the "canceler" was way more in the wrong than the "canceled" person?

That part about the owner posting her full name and screenshot just makes me sick. Jen was just being honest about a messed up order and she lost her whole job over it. I really feel for her because that kind of public shaming can ruin someone's life for no good reason. The bakery raising money off it just feels so wrong when Jen was the one who got hurt.

Oh totally @abby_carr57, the bakery owner went full supervillain over a cake frosting complaint, like calm down it's not like she said the cake was ugly or something lmao. I would've just called the bakery too but honestly I've left bad Yelp reviews before and nobody's come after my job yet, guess my reviews aren't spicy enough to go viral haha.
