Just watched the whole Dylan Mulvaney thing blow up and I'm still confused

I was at a coffee shop on Magazine Street in New Orleans last April when I saw the backlash start. Everyone was so angry about her being Bud Light's influencer, but like, she was just sponsored to post a video. She didn't design the can or change the recipe. Has anyone here actually looked at what she said in that video versus what people claimed she said?

That whole thing got blown way out of proportion but at the same time, you gotta see it from the other side. A lot of folks felt like Bud Light, a brand tied to blue collar and traditional values, was deliberately picking a fight with half their customer base after years of people saying "just stay out of politics." It wasn't really about one 30 second video, it was about a company that had been losing ground with their core drinkers finally showing where their loyalty was.

...so my buddy who works at a grocery store chain in Baton Rouge told me they had cases of Bud Light sitting untouched for weeks after that whole thing. He said people were literally taking videos of themselves pouring it down drains, which is just weird to me. She posted like a 30 second video holding a can with her face on it, something Bud Light did for like their anniversary or whatever. And then suddenly everyone acts like she's personally destroying beer for America. I asked him if anyone actually lost their job or got hurt by it, and he said nope, just a bunch of angry dudes yelling at clouds. The whole thing felt like people were looking for a reason to be mad.
