I called out a guy's joke in our Discord and lost 40 members before I got why
Three weeks ago I screenshotted a joke from a smaller server and dropped it in our 300 person Discord to dunk on the guy who said it. People laughed, we moved on, and then the guy found out through a friend and posted the whole thread on Twitter. It turned out he was a 19 year old kid with a stutter who had been getting mocked online for years, and my screenshot was the thing that finally broke him. I deleted my post and apologized, but we still lost 40 members and I had to step down as mod. The weird part is I always thought I was one of the good ones who only went after people who deserved it. Where's the line for you between a fair callout and punching down?
