Got called out by my own neighborhood Facebook group over a $12 pumpkin and honestly it backfired in a funny way
So back in October I put a big carved pumpkin on my porch with a little sign that said free seeds take one. Some lady in the Maplewood Heights group posted a photo of it calling me a showoff who was rubbing my garden haul in people's faces, and about 40 comments piled up in an afternoon. The wild part is my neighbor Dana defended me, then three other people admitted they took seeds and posted pics of their own squash from my patch. Someone dug through my old posts and found me complaining about deer eating my tomatoes in July, which somehow made me more likable to the group. The mods deleted the original post after two days and the lady sent me an apology message. I learned that pile ons tend to collapse once actual facts show up, but also that I should probably stop putting signs in my yard. Did the group ever turn on you for something this small?
