Finally realized why my cancel culture apology strategy was flopping after 3 months of trying
Spent 90 days watching people get roasted for the same half-hearted sorry I used to dish out, then it hit me that nobody wants the explanation, they just want you to shut up and own it, so who else figured out the hard way that the second paragraph is always what gets you canceled?

That second paragraph thing is dead on. Every time someone tries to explain why they did it, they just dig the hole deeper instead of filling it in.

Read an article that explained how apologies work best when you just state what you did wrong and stop talking. The second they start defending their reasons, people stop listening and just focus on the excuse. @robert_craig hit it right, the fix is always in what you do next, not in explaining why it happened.
