Compare how two YouTubers handled the same callout and one kept their channel

Last month I watched two creators get dogpiled for the same thing, a misleading sponsored segment about a health drink. One person, a fitness guy with 500K subs, deleted the video, posted a 2 minute non apology, and within 3 days had lost 20K subs and a brand deal. The other, a small cooking channel with 30K subs, put out a 12 minute breakdown showing the exact claims they messed up, admitted they took bad research from a third party, and refunded the sponsor money on camera. Their sub count actually went up by 4K in that week. It made me wonder, does the size of your audience change how seriously people take your apology, or is it all about putting in the work?

Honestly, it's like how people are way quicker to forgive a small mistake than a big, famous screw-up.

My buddy Dave once spent three hours helping me fix a flat tire on the side of the highway, but I still get annoyed remembering how he forgot to return my favorite hoodie back in college. Big favors get remembered, sure, but that tiny, personal slip-up just sticks in your brain way longer than it should. It's funny how we can totally overlook a huge, selfless thing, but a small oversight feels like a personal betrayal somehow.
