Unpopular opinion: Those expensive folding chairs aren't worth it
I used to think you had to spend $80 plus on a camp chair to get something comfortable. Last summer I picked up a $25 model at a Walmart in Flagstaff just because I forgot mine. After three nights of using it sitting by the fire I could not tell the difference in comfort or build. Now I just grab whatever is on sale and save the extra cash for better gear like my sleeping pad. Has anyone else found a cheap piece of gear that works just as well as the pricey stuff?

Oh man, the "forgot mine" discovery is the realest thing ever. I did the same thing with a cheap cooler from a gas station outside Moab now it's my go-to for weekend trips. Hard to go back once you realize the expensive stuff is just marketing hype.

It's funny how that pattern plays out in so many areas, isn't it? You pay more for the name, but the cheap thing that actually works stays with you forever. Same thing happened to me with a pair of no-name hiking boots from a discount store - they lasted ten years while my buddy's expensive ones fell apart in two. We're trained to think spending more means better quality, but half the time it's just paying for a logo and a fancy box. Really makes you wonder how much of the stuff we buy is just paying extra for nothing.
