Took 3 trips to the same waterfall before I finally listened to that old timer
Guy at the trailhead told me my new ultralight tent would rip if I set it up on gravel. Laughed it off, set it up fine twice, then the third time a tiny rock tore straight through the floor. Patched it with tape but now I'm looking for a groundsheet that doesn't add a pound. Anyone found one that actually holds up?

Man, I feel your pain on that one. I read somewhere that those super lightweight tent floors are basically just thick trash bags, so even a tiny pebble can be a problem. A buddy of mine swears by cutting a piece of Tyvek house wrap to size, says it's way tougher than the fancy groundsheets and barely weighs anything. He just folds it up and stuffs it in his pack, no drama. Could be worth a shot if you're trying to keep weight down without going back to the drawing board. Take it with a grain of salt though, I've heard some folks say Tyvek gets crinkly loud.

Isn't it all a bit overblown though? I've been using the same flimsy tent floor for years and never had a problem, just clear the spot better.
