TIL a guy at the REI garage sale in Denver saved me from buying a used tent with a hidden problem
He walked over, flipped the rainfly over, pointed at a row of tiny pinholes along the seam, and said "that's UV rot, not dirt" so I put the $60 tent back and he was right about every seam I checked after.

Flip the rainfly and check seams with light behind it.
