The $15 chair I bought for car camping folded on me in the middle of the night in Flagstaff
So I picked up one of those cheap folding camp chairs with the little side table on it, you know the ones, and I figured for 15 bucks how bad could it be. Took it out to a spot near Flagstaff two weekends ago, set it up by the fire, and it felt a little wobbly but I ignored it. Around 2am I got up to pee, sat back down half asleep, and the whole front leg just bent sideways and dumped me on the ground. I ended up sitting on a cooler for the rest of the trip and my back hated me for it. When I got home I looked at the leg and the metal was like tinfoil, it had a crease right where it bent. The weight limit said 250lbs and I'm 190 so it should have been fine. Now I'm wondering if I should try to drill it and bolt a metal plate on, or just eat the loss and look for a used one with better tubing. What do you all check on a camp chair before you trust it?
