That rainy weekend in Shenandoah taught me my tent hates me

Back in April I did a 2 night trip at Big Meadows and it poured for about 14 hours straight. My cheap 3 season tent held up okay but the floor seeped water through every seam no matter what I did. I woke up at 4am in a puddle with my sleeping bag soaked. Turns out the bathtub floor was only rated for 1,500mm and I never checked that number before buying. Has anyone else had a tent fail you on a rainy night and what did you switch to?

So the tent wasn't the only thing that got waterlogged that morning, I'm guessing your mood was pretty soaked too. I had a similar midnight wake-up call in the Smokies and realized my "waterproof" gear was really just "water-resistant" in a bad way. Lesson learned, now I check every number on the tag like it's a secret code before I even think about sleeping on the ground.
