Actually... synthetic stuff can break down faster than you'd think. That cheap polyester jacket will start pilling after a few washes, and fake leather just cracks and flakes. Good cotton or wool, though? You can beat it up for years and it just gets softer. It's all about the quality, not just the label.

My grandma had this wool sweater she wore every winter for like twenty years. It got these soft patches at the elbows but never fell apart. I found a similar looking one at a fast fashion store last year and the sleeve seam ripped after two months. It's wild how the old stuff just holds up.
