Got rained out at Big Sur last month. My tent held up but my gear review system failed me.
I drove 6 hours to Big Sur for a 3 night trip. Read 15 different reviews on this tent before buying. Everyone said it was bombproof in heavy rain. First night was fine. Second night the rain came down hard and constant. Tent held up okay but the reviews were useless for real world info. Nobody mentioned the condensation inside. Nobody talked about how the vestibule floods if you pitch on anything but flat ground. All those reviews just repeat specs from the box. I wasted $280 on a tent that works but the reviews made it sound like magic. Why can't people just be honest about the downsides? Has anyone found a place for real, no BS gear reviews that actually mention the bad stuff?

Condensation never mentioned? That's insane. I'd be furious waking up wet inside.

Whoa, wait, nobody mentioned the condensation? That is insane to me. I mean I get that a tent might keep the rain out but if you wake up soaked from your own breath anyway, what's the point? It's like every review I read for my old tent just said "great ventilation" but never told you that means you need to leave the fly half open and pray a gust doesn't roll through.
