Rant: My old boss made us use cheap coax for a whole apartment block job

Honestly, we had to go back to that building in Charlotte three times in a single month because of signal issues. The client's cheap stuff from a big box store just couldn't handle the long runs and splitter load. We swapped it out for a solid brand of quad-shield, and the problems stopped cold. Has anyone else had a job where the cable itself was the real problem?

We had a job in Asheville where the builder supplied the coax. It was that thin, bargain-bin stuff. We told them it would fail on runs over fifty feet. Sure enough, six months later, half the units had pixelated junk. The re-pull with proper cable took two full days we hadn't budgeted for. That cheap wire cost them more in labor than the good cable would have from the start.

Isn't it crazy how often the "good enough" shortcut ends up costing way more time and money?

Totally used to think "good enough" was the smart move to save time. But last month I tried to patch a leaky faucet myself instead of calling a plumber. Ended up flooding the cabinet and the repair bill was triple what a pro would've cost upfront. Changed my whole view on quick fixes.
