Question about that new fiber optic splicing tool kit

I dropped about $400 on the 'EZ-Splice Pro' kit last month hoping it would speed up my apartment complex jobs. The crimper broke on the third connector, and now I'm back to my old manual method with a wasted half-day. Has anyone found a reliable brand for this kind of work that won't fall apart?

Honestly, that sucks, man. I've been burned by pricey kits too. After my third cheap crimper snapped, I finally broke down and got a single-brand manual from Corning, just their basic hand tool set. It cost about what you paid but I've used it for over a year on dozens of drops with zero issues. The trick for me was ignoring the "all-in-one" bundle gimmicks and just buying a name brand tool separately. The initial sting was rough but it paid for itself in saved time and ruined connectors. Sumitomo is solid too like paulk42 said, but I'd rather have a basic Corning that works than a flashy rig that dies quick.

Check if your supplier offers a tool rental program.
