Old timer told me to switch to compression fittings for coax splices

Gary from the Denver shop kept saying compression is way more reliable than twist-on for outdoor work. I ignored him for a year until I had to redo 14 splices in a rainstorm last month. Anyone else swear by compression over twist-on for exterior stuff?

Wow, that's rough, 14 splices in a rainstorm sounds like a nightmare. Did you notice if the old twist-ons were actually leaking moisture or just failing completely once they got wet?

Man, 14 splices in a rainstorm? That's brutal. @angelafisher, the twist-ons just get brittle and let water creep in over time, especially once they've been baked by the sun. Compression seals way tighter.
