Wasted $80 on a hinge jig that doesn't work for inset doors

Picked up a cheap Blum hinge jig off Amazon last month thinking it would save me time. First cabinet I tried it on, the holes were off by a good 3/16ths. Had to patch and redrill both doors on that job. Cost me an extra 2 hours of labor and the $80 for the jig. Anyone else had luck with a budget jig for inset hinges or should I just stick with marking by hand?

3/16ths is a lot. Even budget jigs usually aren't that far off. Sounds like maybe the plastic locator pins bent or the sliding stop slipped. I had a similar issue with a $50 jig once. Turned out the little cam lock wasn't tight enough and the whole thing shifted while I was drilling.
