That old Stanley chisel I almost threw away now does my best dovetails

I got my grandpa's tool chest about 10 years ago and this one chisel in there, the handle was cracked and the edge looked like a dog chewed it. I nearly tossed it in the scrap bin during a cleanup. But I held onto it for some reason. Last month I finally got around to flattening the back on a spare piece of glass I had from an old picture frame, then sharpened it up on a 1000 and 6000 stone. The steel is way harder than my newer ones, it keeps an edge like crazy. I cut through a full set of dovetails for a cherry nightstand without touching the stone once. My question is, has anyone else had luck with really old chisels versus the new production stuff? I'm trying to decide if I should hunt for more at flea markets or stick with what I got.
