My old foreman told me to always cut my drawer fronts a full 1/8 inch oversize before final fitting. I thought it was a waste of material for years until I botched a set of maple drawers last month.

Yeah, "extra wiggle room" is right, like @blake_lewis said. I learned the hard way with some oak drawers, sanded one side a hair too much and had a huge gap. That oversize material lets you sneak up on a perfect fit instead of hoping you nail it in one shot.
