Hot take: doweled face frames vs pocket screws, and I think I wasted 2 years
Spent the last 3 years building face frames with pocket screws because it was fast and cheap, then last month a buddy in Grand Rapids talked me into trying dowels with a jig on a 6 door kitchen. The dowel frames came out dead flat after glue up, no creeping at the joints, and I didn't have to fight a single screw pulling the rails out of alignment. Now I'm sitting here wondering if I should have switched sooner or if I'm just chasing a trend. Pocket screw guys, what keeps you on them? Dowel guys, do you ever miss the speed?
