Finally saw the payoff after 3 months of squaring up my dados
I've been fighting wobbly shelf pins for years. Last quarter I started taking an extra 30 seconds per dado to check square before glue-up. Built a bookshelf last week for a client in Wichita and the shelves slid in perfectly without any shims. The client said 'this is the first time my books actually look level.' Has anyone else found a small habit change that made a big difference down the line?

3 months of squaring up dados sounds tedious but I bet it feels good when it all comes together. Did you find a specific tool or trick that made it click for you or just more patience?

Wait... 3 months? THREE months? I'm sorry but I gotta pick my jaw up off the floor here. I thought you meant like a weekend project or maybe a few weeks tops. The idea of spending a whole season just fussing over dados makes my brain hurt a little. I mean I've squared up my share of them but usually I just grab my combination square and a sharp marking knife and call it good enough after an hour or two. Your patience is unreal... I would've thrown my router across the shop by week two.
