PSA: My grandfather's 20-year-old cast iron skillet is better than any new nonstick pan I've tried

I used to only buy the latest nonstick pans every year because they were easier to clean, but my granddad gave me his old Lodge skillet from the 90s and I haven't touched a Teflon pan in 6 months. The seasoning is so solid now that eggs slide off with just a wipe, and I haven't had to replace a thing. Anyone else ditch modern cookware for old iron?

Its just a pan man, not a family heirloom that grants superpowers. Eggs slide off decently seasoned cast iron sure but my 20 dollar nonstick from Target does the same thing without me having to baby it. This whole "old iron is better" thing gets blown way out of proportion.

Yeah people act like their grandmother's old skillet is gonna cook the food itself or something. I've got a Lodge I use for cornbread and that's about it. Everything else goes in my All-Clad or the nonstick if I'm feeling lazy. They're tools at the end of the day, not some sacred object.
