My dad's old pry bar story made me rethink my tool buying after 20 years

I was complaining to my dad about a cheap pry bar that bent on me last weekend, and he pulled out this beat up Craftsman bar he's had since 1985. He told me he found it at a garage sale for like 3 bucks and it's pried open more crates and pulled more nails than I ever will. Has anyone else had a simple tool outlast EVERYTHING else in their box for decades?

Saw a similar story on another forum about a guy's grandpa's hammer still going strong.

Was it the same brand or just the same kind of vibe? @violafox, I always wonder how much of that is the tool itself versus how the guy used it. Grandpa probably built a few birdhouses and called it good, not like he was framing houses with it every day.
