My $180 kitchen knife got a wobble in the handle after 8 months, and I am not sure if I should fix it or toss it
Bought a chef knife back in March and used it maybe 4 times a week on veggies and chicken. Last Tuesday I noticed the handle had a tiny wiggle where the wood meets the tang, and now it bugs me on every cut. I called the shop in Portland where I got it and they said a loose handle means water got in and the epoxy gave out. They offered to rehandle it for $60 plus shipping both ways, which is a third of what I paid. I dry it right after washing and never put it in the dishwasher, so I thought I was doing everything right. Is it worth paying to fix, or do I just use this as a sign to look for something with a full tang and pinned scales next time?
