My $14 thrift store cast iron pan turned out to be a cracked mess after 2 months
Saw a Lodge at Goodwill in Omaha for $14. Grabbed it fast. Cleaned it, seasoned it, cooked bacon every weekend. Last Tuesday I heard a ping while frying eggs. Crack ran across the whole bottom. Never dropped it, never heated it dry. Lesson? Check for hairline fractures before you buy. Pass a flashlight over the whole thing. Anyone else had thrift cast iron fail on them after a few weeks?
