My $12 cast iron pan from an estate sale in Tulsa is older than my dad and still cooks better
Went to an estate sale in Tulsa 6 years ago and grabbed a Griswold skillet for $12 because it looked beat up. Everyone online acts like you need some fancy new pan with a rough surface for "seasoning magic," but this thing was made in the 1930s and the cooking surface is glass smooth. My eggs slide around like they are on ice and I have never once had to re-season it in 6 years. Has anyone else noticed the old smooth cast iron runs circles around the new textured stuff, or is it just mine?
