That "pushed me to change" line hits home. For me it was just watching a video that showed how bad my edge actually was.

My buddy Steve had the exact same wakeup call at a barbershop in Austin like three years ago. The barber filmed his line up with his phone and showed it to him after the cut. Steve said he almost walked out right there because his hairline looked like a zigzag mess from years of doing it blind. He told me he went home, watched like six YouTube tutorials that night, and threw away his old electric razor the next morning. Now he spends like 20 minutes on his edge every day and it actually looks sharp. I still tease him about it sometimes though lmao.

The 20 minutes a day @wendyc53 mentioned is spot on, I forced myself to do 15 minutes every morning for a week straight and my hairline stopped looking like a puzzle piece. That video realization is brutal but necessary, once you see the uneven lines in good lighting you can't unsee them. Stick with a simple straight razor or a high end trimmer with a guide comb, no electric clippers at all, and you'll start seeing clean results in about 10 days.
