Spent $80 on a boning knife that chipped on the third deer this season

I figured spending a little more would get me something that held an edge better. It was a brand I'd seen some guys at the shop recommend online. But after breaking down maybe 5 deer total I noticed a chip near the tip. Emailed the company and they said it was user error, wouldn't do anything about it. Went back to my old $40 Victorinox and it's still going strong after two years. Anybody else have a fancy knife let them down like that?

Victorinox is the goat honestly. Bought a Fillet knife from them like 4 years ago and it still slices through fish like butter.

Buddy of mine bought a Victorinox paring knife on a whim like 5 years ago. He was just cutting up an apple one day and the blade slipped right through the skin and into his finger. Not the knife's fault, he's just clumsy. But that little thing is still stupid sharp, he uses it for everything from trimming chicken to opening packages. Never heard him complain about it once.
