Old timer changed my mind about blade sharpening

I always thought you needed a fancy electric sharpener to get a good edge. But last week Jim at the shop just took a wet stone and showed me how it's done in about 2 minutes, no power needed. Has anyone else switched from electric to hand sharpening?

Old timer changed my mind" is exactly what happened to me. Wet stones are way cheaper and the edge lasts just as long. I haven't touched my electric sharpener in over a year now.

My grandpa had this old Arkansas stone that sat in his garage for like 30 years and I never touched it. But last week my buddy @kelly.parker finally convinced me to try it on my kitchen knives and yeah I was dead wrong about electric sharpeners being better. The hand stone gave me a way cleaner edge on my cheap chef's knife, like it actually cuts tomatoes without squishing them now. I still keep my electric one around but it's been gathering dust for sure.
