I'll take a band saw over a cleaver any day for breaking down primals

I know most guys here swear by the cleaver for rib sections. But after I had to replace a broken blade on my Hobart last Tuesday, I borrowed a buddy's setup with a good band saw. Made cleaner cuts and saved me 20 minutes on a full ribeye roll. Anybody else find the saw beats hand tools for speed?

You'll take a band saw over a cleaver any day" - my dad said the same thing until he nicked his thumb bone deep on a band saw blade. Took him three hours in the ER. Still says it's worth it though.

Yeah but the thing nobody talks about is how band saws are way more predictable when shit hits the fan. A cleaver can glance off a bone weird and take a chunk out of your hand, but a bandsaw blade just goes where the fence guides it. My buddy's a butcher and he says the only bandsaw accidents he sees are from people rushing or not using a push stick. Cleaver accidents happen even when you're doing everything right.
