Broke my good breaking knife on a hip bone Tuesday and had to finish the side with a backup I sharpened wrong

I was working a steer at Bakersfield Meat Co and my 10-inch curved cimitar snapped right at the bolster when I hit the aitch bone, so I grabbed my old Forschner that I'd put a 20 degree edge on by mistake and spent the next 45 minutes fighting through sinew and gristle-has anyone else had a tool fail mid-job and had to make do with what you had?

Ha! At least you didn't stab yourself with the backup.

Whoa wait, your knife snapped at the bolster? I've seen them break at the tip before but the bolster is supposed to be the strongest part of the whole blade. That's wild.
