Beef ribs kept locking up my band saw until I found the fix

I was ready to THROW that thing after it stalled on every single rib cut. After losing a whole morning, I glanced at the guide and noticed the tension knob was way out. Giving it a firm turn with the key made it run PERFECTLY. Now I test that first thing every day.

Betty Miller's tip on blade speed is smart, but guide blocks are often overlooked. If they're misaligned, even a tense blade will bind. Mine pinched on every rib until I realigned them. Cold meat can also stiffen the bone, making cuts harder. Letting ribs warm up slightly helps the blade glide. So @betty_miller, besides technique, guides and meat temp matter too.

You sure it was just the tension? I've had the same lock up happen even with perfect tension. Sometimes a slower blade speed works better for those thick ribs. Might be your blade type too. A skip tooth blade clears the wet bone gunk way better. Could also be how you're pushing the cut. Letting the blade do the work helps a ton. Just saying, tension isn't always the only fix.
