Vent: cheap torque wrench vs renting a proper one, I chose wrong at 2 AM
Picked a $25 harbor freight special over a $15 rental to save time on my truck's lug nuts, snapped two studs before realizing the wrench was 20 ft-lbs off, has anyone else toasted a hub assembly this way or am I the only genius?

Been there with a cheap wrench that cost me way more in the end... snapped a stud on my old F150 and spent the next weekend drilling it out in the driveway. Those bargain tools always seem to bite you at the worst time, usually when you're tired and just want the job done. At least you caught the real problem before wrecking all four wheels.
