The $12 tail light lens that fixed my brake light after 3 failed resistors
Spent 2 evenings chasing a brake light issue on my 2007 Civic, swapped resistors and even rewired the harness, then realized the old lens was letting water in and shorting the socket, has anyone else had moisture mess up a connection that looked fine from the outside?

Wait, that's not quite right, moisture usually doesn't short the socket itself, it corrodes the contacts over time and that's what kills the connection. The lens letting water in just speeds up that corrosion, so the resistor fix probably was working, but the damage was already done underneath. Either way, good call on replacing the lens, that's the real fix here.
