That moment when you fix the thing you broke fixing the other thing

Yesterday I was trying to swap out the fuel filter on my 2005 Civic and snapped the plastic clip on the return line. Spent 20 minutes cussing in the driveway before I remembered a tip I read on here about using a zip tie and a small o-ring as a temp fix. Got it sealed up and the car started right up after priming it three times. Has anyone else had luck with zip ties for fuel line clips or am I playing with fire?

Honestly, how long have you been running that zip tie fix so far? Ngl, I'd be nervous about the heat under the hood softening the plastic over time, especially near any exhaust components. Tbh, a proper replacement clip is like $5 at an auto parts store, might be worth the peace of mind if you plan on daily driving it.

My buddy Mike ran that exact same zip tie fix on his old Civic for like 8 months before it finally snapped, and @terry_walker you're right, the heat near the exhaust manifold turned it into a brittle mess.
