Rant: wasted 60 bucks on a 'universal' bike repair stand that wobbled worse than my chain
Flipped my bike upside down like a caveman for six months before I realized that flimsy stand was never going to hold anything steady, so has anyone else found a cheap stand that actually stays put or should I just stick with the floor?

Why do people act like spending more money automatically fixes everything? That "60 bucks" stand was obviously a toy, not a tool. You get what you pay for in this game, so why blame the whole stand category when you bought the cheap version? A little research on clamping design and base weight would've saved you the hassle. Honestly, the floor works fine for most jobs anyway, unless you're rebuilding a full suspension bike every week.

@diana_moore75 I think you're right about cheaper ones being toys but even some mid-range stands can be pretty shaky depending on the bike weight and how you clamp it. The main issue I've seen is that a lot of people skip checking the clamp design and just look at the price, which is where the frustration comes from. Floor method works fine for most folks though, unless you really need to spin the cranks or work on the front end without the wheel flopping around.
