PSA: bought a $15 caliper piston tool from AutoZone in 2019, stripped it, then fixed my brakes with a C-clamp and a prayer
Three summers back in my Denver driveway I cracked a piston boot trying to rush a pad swap, so now I keep the old tool in a coffee can as a reminder that busted knuckles teach you more than any YouTube video, has anyone else got a busted tool they refuse to throw out?

Keeping old broken tools around seems to be a thing we all do without even thinking about it. My grandpa had a whole shelf of stripped screwdrivers and burnt up drill bits, said each one was a lesson he already paid for. Guess the coffee can is just the newer version of that same habit.
