Fixed my dryer 3 times before I realized the vent was the problem

I replaced the heating element twice on my Whirlpool dryer over 4 months, spent about $120 total on parts. Turned out the vent was 80% clogged with lint and it was killing the element from overheating. Has anyone else chased the wrong fix for weeks before finding the real issue?

Man, that's brutal. The vent is always the last thing you check because you assume it's fine. Bet you could've saved yourself a headache if you'd just stuck a leaf blower to the outside vent first.

Yeah, has that leaf blower trick actually worked for anyone long term? I tried it once and all it did was blow debris deeper into the duct work, made the clog even worse. What finally worked for me was taking the vent cover off and running a shop vac hose straight into the opening from inside the house.
