A guy at the parts counter told me to quit guessing at my carb, and it changed how I tune everything
Back when I was messing with the old Holley on my truck, I kept pulling it apart and swapping jets by feel, and after the third time it ran worse I brought the carb in to a NAPA in Reno to ask what I was doing wrong. The older guy behind the counter just said "you're changing parts without writing anything down, so you don't know what actually worked" and told me to keep a notebook with every jet size and how it ran. Do you all keep a log like that, or do you just remember it in your head?
Yeah I always figured I could just remember what I did last time but turns out I was wrong about that. Started writing jet sizes and how it ran in a little notebook and it made a huge difference, saves me from going in circles.
