Tried the 'hostel hopping' method for 2 weeks in Lisbon and got bed bugs at the 3rd place

I thought I was saving money by moving to a different hostel every 3 days to chase the cheapest rates. Woke up with bites on my arms at the Boavista Hostel and spent the next 4 days washing everything in hot water and sleeping in a laundromat. Anyone got a fail-safe way to check a mattress in 30 seconds?

Tbh the blacklight trick works okay but you gotta be fast with it. Honestly the real fail-safe is to lift the mattress corner and check the seams with your phone flashlight while looking for tiny blood spots or little dark specks that look like ground pepper. Ngl if you see anything sketchy just walk out before you even put your bag down.
