Pro tip: the $10 hostel breakfast that I skipped for 3 days in Lisbon was actually worth every cent
I always thought hostel breakfasts were sad free toast and weak coffee, so I walked to a bakery down the street each morning and dropped about 4 euros a day. On day 4 I finally tried the 3 euro spread at the hostel and got eggs, fresh fruit, and real espresso, which was way more food than my bakery run. Has anyone else found a cheap add-on like this that beats the thing you thought was the upgrade?

Hostel breakfast is the biggest scam and the biggest win at the same time, depends on the place lol. That 3 euro spread sounds like a steal, eggs and real espresso for that price is hard to beat anywhere. Cheap add-ons like that are usually worth trying once instead of walking somewhere else.
