Picked the 12 hour bus over the $180 flight, zero regrets

I had to get from Phoenix to El Paso last month for a family thing and the flight was 180 bucks, but the bus was only 45. I figured I'd try the overnight ride and just sleep through it. Honestly the seats were more comfortable than I expected and I saved enough to cover my share of the hotel room. Has anyone else taken the long way on purpose and found it was actually better?
