Paid $40 for a 'skip the line' pass and still waited 3 hours in Rome
So I bought one of those express entry tickets for the Colosseum last spring, thought I was being smart. Turns out the 'skip the line' just puts you in a different line that merges with everyone else at security. Lost 3 hours of my afternoon and could've just bought a regular ticket for 12 bucks. Has anyone actually found a tour company that genuinely bypasses the crowds, or is it all marketing fluff?

That "skip the line" thing is the same trick as priority boarding on budget flights, where you pay extra just to stand in a slightly different spot while everyone boards the same plane. They sell you the feeling of special access without actually giving you any time back, because the bottleneck was never the ticket line in the first place. Feels like half of what we pay for these days is just the label, not the thing itself.
