My friend roasted my 'free breakfast' strategy in Prague

I was grabbing every hotel buffet item I could fit in my backpack. My buddy saw me and said, 'You look like a squirrel preparing for nuclear winter.' He pointed out I was taking stuff I'd never eat, like cold cuts that would spoil. Now I only take sealed non-perishables, like those little jam packets and tea bags. Anyone else get called out for a hack that went too far?

Your friend had a point about food safety. Taking stuff that spoils is a waste and can make you sick. The sealed items are a much smarter move.

So you're saying my friend's smarter than me, huh?

Thing is sealed stuff can have issues too. I had a can of beans that was bulging and when I opened it the smell almost knocked me over. Botulism is rare but real in canned goods. The safest bet is probably prepackaged stuff from a grocery store that hasn't been sitting in a hot car or garage for days.
