My buddy told me to book a hostel in Berlin for under 20 euros a night and I should have listened

Honestly, I thought I found a better deal on a private room through a booking site for 45 euros. Ngl, the place looked fine online but when I got there last month it was a total dump, far from the center. I ended up spending over 15 euros a day just on metro passes to get anywhere. My friend's hostel pick was actually in a great spot and had free breakfast. I wasted so much cash being stubborn. Has anyone else ignored a solid budget tip and really regretted it?

Nobody talks about how much of a flex it is to sleep in a dorm with strangers and not care. Takes a certain kind of chill most people don't have.
