Missed my flight in Lisbon and the bus station saved my whole trip
I landed in Lisbon last month and thought I had a 3 hour layover, but my phone died and I woke up to my plane boarding without me. I panicked for a solid 10 minutes, then found a direct overnight bus to Porto for 18 euros versus the 90 euro last minute flight. The bus left at 11pm from the Oriente station, had wifi, and I actually slept better than on the plane. I ended up saving 72 bucks and got to see the sunrise over the Douro river from the bus window. Anyone else had a travel failure turn into a cheaper plan? Has anyone tried the FlixBus routes between other Spanish or Portuguese cities?
The Oriente station might be my favorite spot in Lisbon now, honestly. I took that same FlixBus to Madrid once and the seats were way comfier than any plane seat I've had. Missed connections sometimes force us into the good stuff, you know?
