Just found out my 'budget' airline charges extra for the overhead bin space
I was booking a flight to Nashville for next month and noticed the base fare was only $49. That seemed too good to be true so I clicked through to see the total. Turns out they charge $35 each way just to put your carry-on in the overhead bin. I got hit with that fee last year flying out of Denver and didn't realize it until I checked my receipt later. So that cheap flight ended up costing me $119 total which is more than a regular airline would have been. Found that info on the payment screen buried in tiny font. Has anyone else found a way around these surprise fees without checking a bag?

Got hit with that same $35 trap flying out of Newark last month, felt so ripped off.

Yeah is it just a Newark thing or what? I paid $32 for a burger and fries there last year and it was honestly worse than McDonald's. Like the airport tax or whatever they tack on feels criminal. Sorry you had to deal with that nonsense too.
