Hot take: my worst travel day ever was in Rome because I trusted a 'free' walking tour.

They led us to a cafe that charged 8 euros for a tiny coffee, then the guide demanded a 20 euro tip per person. What's the most obvious tourist trap you've seen that's disguised as a budget tip?

Used to think those free tours were a solid hack but after hearing stories like this I'll never look at them the same way again lol. The fake reviews flooding in just seals it for me too.

Ever notice how the worst ones always have the most five-star reviews? Those "free" tours get their friends to flood the sites with fake praise, so you never see the real warnings until it's too late. It's a total scam setup.

How do you even tell the difference anymore? I'll spend twenty minutes reading reviews and still feel like I'm guessing. Do you look for something specific in the bad reviews to spot the real ones?
