Found a $3 app that saved me $80 on my Portland trip last month

I was in Portland for 3 days and kept blowing money on parking garages. I downloaded a parking spot finder app for $3 and it showed me free street parking within 2 blocks of every spot I wanted to go. Has anyone else found a cheap app that pays for itself on one trip?

My neighbor in Seattle dropped $60 on parking during a weekend trip downtown last summer, so I showed him this exact trick. It's wild how much money we throw away on stuff like parking just because we don't stop and think for two minutes. Between apps like this and checking for free weekend street parking near event venues, I've probably saved a couple hundred bucks this year alone. It really makes you wonder what other small changes are hiding in plain sight that could save people real money.
