Am I the only one who thinks airport taxis are a total budget killer in my city?
I live near Chicago, and I take a lot of short trips to see family. I mean, every time I fly into O'Hare, I watch people grab cabs that cost like $50 to the Loop. Idk, maybe it's just me, but I always jump on the Blue Line train instead. It's $2.50 and gets you downtown in under an hour. I've saved hundreds over the years, no joke. Friends complain it's crowded or slow, but I've ridden it at all hours, even after my shifts, and it's fine. If you're serious about saving cash on travel, ditching the taxi is step one. Why blow money on a ride when you could put it toward a better hotel or more food?

Question if saving a few bucks is worth the hassle with luggage and weird train schedules.

Honestly, I gotta side with bethwhite on this one. That kind of savings adds up crazy fast. I used to take the train from the airport too, and yeah you have to plan a bit, but you just put on a podcast and zone out. For me, the extra thirty bucks each way is like, a whole other meal or drinks out. The hassle feels way smaller once you get in the habit.

Took BART from SFO into downtown San Francisco for years. Cost like ten bucks versus a forty dollar Uber, even with a suitcase. Honestly got used to the extra thirty minute trip and just read a book. That savings alone paid for a couple nice dinners out every month.
